Quantifiers Much and Many PowerPoint Lesson
This free PowerPoint helps learners practice the quantifiers much and many. Students first review the idea of countable and uncountable nouns before moving on to real examples. The lesson shows how many is used with plural countable nouns (“many apples,” “many books”), while much is used with uncountable nouns (“much water,” “much sugar”). Each slide provides simple pictures and sentences so students can see the difference clearly.
This PPT can be used as a stand-alone lesson or alongside other quantifier lessons such as a few vs. a little.
Inside This Much and Many PowerPoint
The slideshow begins with a short refresher on countable and uncountable nouns. This quick review prepares students to understand why much goes with one group of nouns and many with another. From there, the presentation focuses on how to use many. Students see examples with plural countable nouns, such as:
“There are many chairs in the room.”
“She has many friends at school.”
The next section introduces much with uncountable nouns. Examples include:
“He doesn’t have much time.”
“There isn’t much milk in the fridge.”
To finish, students work through a short review activity where they must choose between much and many in different sentences.
