Articles A An The | Free Worksheets
These free Article Worksheets help Grade 2 students practice using a, an, and the in sentences. Learners start with simple activities on the indefinite articles (a/an) before moving on to the definite article (the) and mixed practice.

Indefinite Article (a/an)
This worksheet gives students 10 simple sentences to practice choosing between a and an. It’s best used after you’ve already explained the rule in class. For example: I saw (a/an) elephant at the zoo. The final question is a/an uniform, which is included on purpose to highlight the rule that an is used before vowel sounds, not just vowel letters. So be sure to draw students’ attention to this point.

Definite Article (the)
This worksheet gives students 10 sentences to practice when to use the and when no article is needed. For example: We went to (park / the park) to play soccer. Some of the questions are designed around common learner errors, such as overusing the with places (school / the school). Make sure to highlight these to your students as you check answers together.

Articles a, an, and the
This worksheet challenges students to spot and correct errors with a, an, and the. Each of the 10 sentences is either correct or contains a mistake with the article. For example: I have a apple in my bag (should be an). Students should mark each sentence with a tick/check if it is correct or an X if it is wrong, and then rewrite the corrected version in the blank space. This activity encourages careful checking and helps learners avoid common mistakes.
