Some and Any Activity

Some Or Any Review Activity

This free classroom activity is a simple and engaging way to practice the quantifiers some and any. The video shows students a series of sentences with missing words, and they must decide whether to complete them with some or any. It’s ideal for beginner English learners and works well as a quick grammar review or warm-up exercise.

If students need more practice, try these interactive Some and Any Exercises.

How to Play This Some or Any Activity

Play the video in class and work through the ten questions together. For each question, students choose some or any to complete the sentence. You can run the activity in a few different ways depending on your class:

  • Have students raise their hands or call out their answers.
  • Ask students to move to one side of the room for some and the other side for any.
  • Pause the video and have students write the full sentence before revealing the answer.

Teaching Tip

After playing the game once as a whole class, play the video again and pause after each sentence. This time, ask students to write down three variations of the sentence by swapping out parts of it. For example:

  • I don’t have any apples.
  • I don’t have any pencils.
  • I don’t have any candy.

This turns the activity into a useful writing exercise and gives students extra practice applying the rules of using some and any in full sentences.
