Animals PowerPoint Lesson for Kindergarten and Young ESL Learners
This PowerPoint is designed to teach animal names to kindergarten students and young English learners. Each slide features a large, colorful picture of a familiar animal along with its name. Students can practice saying the words together as a class. At the end, there’s a fun guessing game to review the animals and keep students engaged.
How to Use This Animals PowerPoint
Start by asking students what animal names they already know. This helps activate their prior knowledge and gets them thinking about the topic. Then go through the slides together. Say each animal name out loud and have students repeat after you. Once they’re familiar with the words, try going through again and asking them to say each name on their own.
There are 17 animals in total featured in this presentation. These are dog, cat, rabbit, fish, lion, tiger, elephant, hippo, turtle, snake, monkey, gorilla, giraffe, bear, panda, wolf, and fox.
To wrap up, use the hidden picture review game included at the end. Click the colored squares to slowly reveal the animal image, and have students guess what it is. They can shout out the answer, raise their hands, or even play in teams for extra fun.
