There Is There Are Game – Sentence Practice Activity

This grammar game helps students practice using “there is” and “there are” in complete sentences. In this video activity, students see a picture and choose the correct phrase to complete the sentence. Use this game at the end of your lesson as a fun way to review “there is” and “there are” with beginners.

How to Play the “There Is / There Are” Game

This game is simple to use in class. There are 10 rounds, and in each round students see a picture and a sentence with either there is or there are missing. For example: “____ a tiger over there.” Students have 5 seconds to choose the correct form to complete the sentence.

Tip: If you’re playing with young learners who can’t read quickly yet, pause the video when the sentence appears and read it aloud. This gives them time to process the sentence and decide on their answer.
