How To Play Never Have I Ever In Class
Never Have I Ever is a fantastic game to play in class as an icebreaker game or simply as a fun way for students to get to know each other better. The main idea of the game is for one student to use a ‘Never Have I Ever statement’ to express something they have never done but perhaps other students might have done. If a student has done the thing in the ‘Never Have I Ever statement’ then they lose a point. Here is how to play Never Have I Ever In Class step by step:
1. Sit In A Circle
To begin, have students sit in a circle facing each other. If you have a particularly large class, you might want to divide the class into different groups.
2. Show Ten Fingers
Next, have all students show you ten fingers. These are their ‘lives’.
3. Make A Never Have I Ever Statement
Next, one student should make a ‘Never Have I Ever statement’. This should be something they have never done but maybe other students have. The aim is to make as many students as possible lose one of their ‘lives’.
4. Lose A Life
Students who have done the thing from the ‘Never Have I Ever statement’ lose a life and so must put down one finger.
5. Repeat
Then it’s the next student’s turn to make a statement. Continue taking turns like this until all but one student has lost all their lives. That student is the winner.
Variations
There are of course many different ways you can play Never Have I Ever. A great variation to play in class is one in which you encourage students to share their funny stories after each round. For example, if the statement was “Never have I ever lied to a teacher.” the students who admitted to it could then share the lie they told a teacher once.
Another great variation, and one which kids really love, is to give each student 10 small things that they can eat. These ten edible things are their ‘lives’ and each time they lose a life they get to eat one of their snacks.
