Free Animal Flashcards for Kids (Zoo, Farm, Sea, Pets, and Wild Animals)
One of the best ways to teach animal names to kids is with colorful animal flashcards. Animals have always been one of my favorite topics to teach because children love learning new names and finding out more about each animal. The flashcards below are free to download and include five sets: zoo animals, farm animals, sea animals, pets, and wild animals. Each set has 8 large flashcards for presenting new vocabulary to the class and 8 small flashcards that students can use during activities.
Zoo Animal Flashcards

This set includes 8 printable zoo animal flashcards in both large and small sizes. The large cards are great for introducing animals at the front of the class, while the smaller ones are perfect for games like memory match or find your partner. Animals in this set include lion, tiger, elephant, giraffe, zebra, monkey, panda, and kangaroo.
Farm Animal Flashcards

This set includes 8 farm animals: cow, pig, sheep, horse, goat, chicken, duck, and donkey. Tip: A fun way to use these flashcards is to teach them alongside the song โOld MacDonald Had a Farmโ so students can practice both the animal names and the sounds they make.
Sea Animal Flashcards

This printable set of sea animal flashcards features 8 animals, each available in large and small sizes. The large cards are ideal for showing at the front of the class, while the small cards work well for interactive activities and games. Animals included are octopus, dolphin, whale, shark, seahorse, crab, turtle, and starfish.
Pet Animal Flashcards

The pet animal flashcards include 8 common pets: dog, cat, rabbit, hamster, parrot, goldfish, guinea pig, and mouse. These can be used to teach expressions such as โI have a hamster.โ or โI want a pet dog.โ
Wild Animal Flashcards

This set of wild animal flashcards comes with 8 animals: wolf, fox, deer, bear, snake, eagle, crocodile, and gorilla. These are great for lessons teaching about animals and habitats, and can be used to introduce habitat sentences such as โA fox lives in the forest.โ or โA crocodile lives in the river.โ
