Opposite Word Flashcard Game Ideas
- 1. I’ve Got, Who’s Got
Give each student an opposite word flashcard. Students walk around the classroom asking and answering using the target language. For example, one student might say, “I’ve got fast, who’s got slow?” Once they find their match, both students sit down. This continues until all students are paired up. - Opposite Snap
In pairs, students spread a full set of opposite word flashcards face-up on their desks. The teacher calls out a word (e.g. “hot”), and students race to grab the opposite card (“cold”). The first to grab it keeps the card. The student with the most cards at the end wins. Tip: This game also works well at the board. Display the flashcards on the board and give each team a soft hammer or pointer. When you call out a word, the first student to hit the correct opposite wins a point for their team. - For another fun game, check out our Opposite Words Classroom Game.
