About These Weather Flashcards

This PDF set of weather flashcards includes 8 large cards for teaching at the front of the class and 8 smaller cards for students to hold and use in pair work or classroom games. The weather words are sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy, snowy, foggy, hot, and cold. These are the key vocabulary words that young learners typically study when learning how to talk about the weather.

Fun Weather Flashcard Game

After teaching the 8 weather words and the question “How’s the weather?”, you can play this fun review game with your class. Begin by drawing a simple window on the board. Ask the students to close their eyes while you place one of the weather flashcards inside the outline of the window with the picture side hidden.

Next, tell the students to open their eyes and then ask, “How’s the weather?”. The class should guess which weather card is hidden by answering with the target sentences such as “It’s sunny,” “It’s rainy,” or “It’s cloudy.” The student who guesses correctly gets to come to the front of the class and choose the next weather flashcard to hide.
