Ideas For Teaching Yellow Fruits To Kids
If you’re teaching the names of these yellow fruits to kids or beginner English language learners, here are some activity ideas to help you teach these words in a fun way.
Yellow Fruit Matching Game
A simple matching game is a great way to get students to recall the names of yellow fruits in a fun way. To play, you can use flashcards or our Matching Game PPT Template. The idea of the game is the same whether you use flashcards or our template. Students take turns turning over two cards to reveal pictures of yellow fruits. They must find two matching pictures. If they find a matching pair, they score a point. If they are not matching, the cards are turned back over and another student gets a chance to try and find a matching pair.
Yellow Fruit Scavenger Hunt
A scavenger hunt is a fun way to review the names of these yellow fruits, especially if you teach young kids. This game is best played with real fruit, but you can also use some flashcards. To play, tell students to close their eyes and then hide some yellow fruits around the class. Then, tell students to open their eyes and give them 5 minutes to find the fruit. Once they find a piece of fruit, they should bring it to the teacher, at which point you can ask them what the name of the fruit is.
Yellow Fruit Bingo
To play this game, prepare some bingo cards with pictures of yellow fruits, or give each student a blank piece of paper and ask them to write nine different kinds of yellow fruit in a 3×3 grid. Once each student has prepared their bingo card, the game can begin. Call out the names of the fruit and ask students to cross them off if they are on their bingo sheets. First student to make one or two lines of bingo is the winner. Tip: Ask the winner to come up to the front of class and call out the fruit names in the next round!
Yellow Fruit Drawing Game
To play this game, each student will need a blank piece of paper, a pencil, and some yellow crayons/pencils. To begin, think of a yellow fruit, but don’t tell the students. Then, begin to describe the yellow fruit and ask students to draw what they think you are describing. For example, if the fruit you are thinking of is a banana you might say, “It’s a long, curvy fruit that is green when it’s new but yellow when it is ripe.” After describing the fruit, have some students share their drawings with the class.
