About These Color Flashcards
This printable PDF includes 8 color flashcards in both large and small sizes. The large cards are great for teaching at the front of class, while the smaller cards are ideal for pair work, games, or coloring activities. The colors included in this set are: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, black, purple, and pink.
Games to Play with These Color Flashcards
- Find Something (Color)
After teaching the basic color names, a fun and active game to play is Find Something (Color). Place the color flashcards face down on your desk and mix them up. Choose one at random and say, โFind something [red]!โ Students then move around the classroom to point to or bring something of that color.
Tip: Young kids can get very excited during this game. Clear the floor of any bags or obstacles beforehand, and remind students itโs not a race and that it’s okay if more than one student finds the same item. - Color Line Bingo
Give each pair of students a set of small color flashcards and have them arrange them in a row in any order. The teacher chooses a flashcard and holds it up. Students ask, โWhat color is it?โ and the teacher replies, โItโs yellow.โ If the color is at either end of their line, students can turn over that card. The first team to flip all their cards wins.
