As a teacher, organizing a talent show performance for kids can be challenging. The hardest part is often coming up with fresh ideas year after year. That’s why we put together this list of the top 5 songs to sing for a talent show.

With a little practice, all these songs can be sung by kids and teenagers. When sang together as a class, these songs make for a very impressive performance.

Top 5 Songs To Sing For A Talent Show

1. The Cup Song

The cup song from the movie ‘Pitch Perfect’ has been around for many years now, but it still makes a great class performance for a talent show. Students also really love performing this song. All you need is some plastic cups.

A quick search of YouTube for ‘How to do the cup song’ will return many good videos to teach you how to do it. Once you have mastered how to do it, teach the cup song rhythm to your students and practice, A LOT!

Once students have mastered the basic rhythm, you can teach them to sing the lyrics. If it is too hard for your students to sing the lyrics and do the cup beat at the same time, a great way to perform this song is to divide the class into two.

While one half of the class is doing the cup rhythm, the other half can be singing the lyrics. Then when the verse changes, they can swap roles, and when there is no singing, the whole class can do the cup rhythm together.

2. ‘Best Day Of My Life’ by American Authors

This upbeat and positive song is a great song to sing as a class at a talent show. When performing this song, there are several different roles the kids can play. Some students can sing the main lyrics, while others can sing the backing tune (woo woo woo woo woo). And other students can beat out the rhythm to the song. A well-choreographed performance of this song will be very impressive at a school talent show.

3. ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ By Justin Timberlake

This fun and upbeat song featured in the kid’s movie ‘Trolls’ and is a great song for a kid’s talent show. This song can be performed in a number of different ways. One is to create a fun dance routine and simply perform it on stage to the music.

Another way is to create your own music video to show at the talent show. Just like in the music video above, you can record your students doing fun and crazy dances and edit them together.

4. ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams

This is another upbeat, feel-good song that kids love to sing and dance to. This song is great to perform if you have a mixed-level class. The song features the lyrics ‘clap along’ many times. Higher-level students who like to sing can sing the lyrics to the song, and lower-level students can ‘clap along’ and dance to the song.

5. ‘We Will Rock You’ by Queen

Although quite an old song, kids love performing this as a class. The easy beat and lyrics make it a great song for students of all ages and levels. When performed by a large class, it can also be very powerful. A great way to perform this song at a talent show is to use cups and do a variation of the ‘cup song’ beat.
