Action Verb Flashcard Game Idea – Teacher Says Jump

This game is a fun twist on Simon Says that uses action verb flashcards.

1. First, teach an action for each verb in the flashcards (e.g., for run students run on the spot, for read they mime opening a book).
2. Practice each action as you go through the flashcards with the class.
3. Once students know the actions, shuffle the cards and choose one at random. Say “Teacher says [verb]” (e.g., Teacher says jump) and the class does the action.
4. If you say the verb without “Teacher says,” students must stay still.
5. Gradually speed up to make the game more exciting.

Tip: After one round, invite a student to the front to be the “teacher.”
